Riyadh: The Saudi club Al-Nassr announced Sunday the official signing of the Spanish defender Inigo Martinez from Barcelona on a free transfer. Al-Nassr clarified in a statement on its official website that Martinez’s contract extends until 2026.
According to Qatar News Agency, Martinez joined Barcelona in the summer of 2023 following a professional tenure with Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad. He played a prominent role in Barcelona’s domestic treble last season, securing La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup titles.
Martinez’s arrival marks Al-Nassr’s fourth signing this summer, following the Portuguese Joao Felix and the Saudi duo Abdulmalik Al Jaber and Nader Al Sharari. The club is actively bolstering its squad as it prepares for the upcoming season.
Al-Nassr is conducting an external training camp in Portugal ahead of the new season. The season will kick off with a showdown against Al-Ittihad in the semi-final of the 2025 Saudi Super Cup, which is set to be hosted in Hong Kong from August 19 to 23.
