Doha: The Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities, operating under the Qatar Social Work Foundation, has successfully concluded the Al Shafallah Hackathon 2025. The event, themed “Innovate: For an Accessible World,” was attended by high-profile officials, representatives from partner organizations, and participants from schools and universities.
According to Qatar News Agency, Executive Director of the Shafallah Center, Maryam Saif Al Suwaidi, emphasized that the hackathon is more than a technical event; it is a national platform aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030, which focuses on human and social development. Al Suwaidi noted that the event highlighted the potential of innovation to drive societal progress and the pivotal role youth can play in creating a more inclusive society.
The hackathon’s timing coincided with World Cerebral Palsy Day, underscoring the Shafallah Center’s commitment to addressing global issues from a local standpoint while raising awareness about improving accessibility and quality of life for individuals with disabilities.
The event featured a documentary film that captured the hackathon’s key moments and the development stages of the projects. The judging panel and specialists who supported the teams were honored for their contributions, and the Qatar Scientific Club received recognition for its partnership in the event’s success.
Organizers confirmed that the innovative projects developed during the hackathon will continue within the Center’s initiatives, aiming to transform outstanding ideas into practical applications to benefit people with disabilities and foster social innovation in Qatar.
The hackathon witnessed significant participation from students, who presented innovative solutions in areas like inclusive education, smart mobility, and enhanced communication, demonstrating a strong sense of initiative and social consciousness among the youth.
