Shura Council and IPU President Deliberate on Strengthening Parliamentary Collaboration.

Doha: HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim met with HE President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Dr. Tulia Ackson, who is currently visiting the country. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in parliamentary fields and capacity building, as outlined in the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two entities in 2021.

According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions also addressed parliamentary efforts to support international peace and security. Both parties highlighted the humanitarian and political situations in the region, specifically addressing the Israeli aggression on Palestinian territories and Lebanon. They underscored the significance of parliamentary collaboration in achieving sustainable development, fostering dialogue among nations, and securing justice and security for all, thereby reinforcing peace and stability both regionally and internationally.

Dr. Ackson expressed her appreciation for the effective partnership between the Shura Council and the IPU, describing it as a model of successful cooperation in addressing shared challenges. She also extended her congratulations to the State of Qatar, its leadership, government, and people on the successful referendum on constitutional amendments, noting that the high voter turnout and approval reflect the public’s confidence in their leadership’s wisdom.
