Shura Council Leaders Participate in Qatar’s Constitutional Amendment Referendum.

DOHA: HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, along with several members of the Shura Council, participated in the voting process for the constitutional amendment referendum. The event took place on Tuesday morning at the First Committee’s headquarters, located at Ali bin Hamad Al Attiya Arena of Al Sadd Sports Club.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti highlighted the significance of the day, describing it as a historic event for Qatar. She stated that the draft constitutional amendments, which were proposed by the country’s supreme leadership and approved by the Shura Council, represent a pivotal moment in enhancing national unity and promoting equal citizenship. Dr. Al Sulaiti encouraged all citizens to engage in the voting process at various polling stations.

Her Excellency expressed gratitude to the General Referendum Committee for facilitating the voting process, offering both paper and electronic voting options
across different locations, including shopping malls. Additionally, the “Metrash 2” application enabled citizens abroad or those unable to attend in person to vote remotely.

In a related statement, HE Former Shura Council Speaker Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud emphasized HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s commitment to the nation’s progress and citizen welfare. He recognized the referendum as an important opportunity for citizens to express their views on the proposed constitutional changes.
