Sixth Iteration of Iraq International Book Fair Kicks Off with Qatar in Spotlight

Baghdad: The sixth iteration of the Iraq International Book Fair kicked off in Baghdad on Wednesday and will continue until Dec. 13.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry of Culture, alongside more than 450 publishing houses from 23 countries, is participating as well, with the Qatari booth showcasing a wide array of modern literary and thoughtful genres published by the ministry. Also participating are several of Qatar’s publishing houses, underscoring the diverse national cultural production and the prolific creative movement in the State of Qatar.

This year’s fair pays tribute to 100 Iraqi women figures who have substantially contributed to deepening the cultural, thoughtful, artistic, and social awareness throughout an entire century, engaging in driving the community toward progress and openness to the path of human civilization.

The fair broadly showcases over a million titles from a variety of disciplines, along with hundreds of new releases of 2025. The fair program includes a combination of cultural activities, in terms of book signing sessions, artistic evenings, and thoughtful symposia.

This is in addition to workshops meant for the publishing sector, programs targeting youth and students, and initiatives designed to foster reading and cultivate cultural skills among the public.
