In the colours of Al Wasmiyah Stud, DHABYAH (GB) (Australia x Sola Gratia) made a perfect start to her career winning her racecourse bow in the Racecourse Live Streams On Racing TV Extra Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Haydock, UK, on Monday, 3 August, evening. Trained by William Haggas in Newmarket, DHABYAH came from last to first in the straight. Showing some immaturity and a little green, the three-year-old chestnut filly took time to find her stride, but once balanced, she came easily past her rivals under jockey Danny Tudhope. She won the 2,300-metre contest for three-year-olds and older by one and three-quarters lengths in front of her half-sister COCONUT (Australia x Spinning Queen), who is trained by Ed Walker and was ridden by Hector Crouch and had had two attempts earlier. The favourite and more experienced with four starts already in her career LA DRAGONTEA (Lope de Vega x La Concorde), trained by Michael Bell, was further one and a quarter lengths behind in third under William Buick.
The German-bred DHABYAH was a private purchase at the Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale. She comes from a smart family. Her dam is a full sister to Group winners and sires SAMUM and SCHIAPARELLI.
