Farmers in the town of Qara in Damascus countryside have started harvesting the cherry season , where about 466,000 trees have been planted on an area of up to 3,105 hectares. The cherry harvest season started on the 20th of last May and it will last till 15th of next August ,and the peasants said that this season is much better than other seasons where the expected production for this year is 4660 tons. The total area planted with cherries in Damascus countryside, reached 5991 hectares with more than 6 million fruitful trees, of which more than 3 million fruitful trees with an estimated production of 47,880 tons,Ministry of agriculture said.
