State Institutions Engage Massively in Qatar’s 15th National Sports Day

Doha: Under the motto "I Chose Sport," Qatar witnessed extensive celebrations for its 15th National Sports Day, as mandated by Amiri Decree No. (80) of 2011. This annual occasion, observed on the second Tuesday of February, saw participation from all ministries, government bodies, and public institutions, promoting the significance of sports in individual and community life.

According to Qatar News Agency, the event aimed to encourage physical activity among citizens and residents, with various ministries organizing sports activities for employees and the public. Aspire Park served as a central venue, hosting numerous events organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth in collaboration with the Qatar Sports for All Federation and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy.

Key figures such as Eng. Yasser bin Abdullah Al Jamal and Abdulrahman bin Muslim Al Dosari participated in events like mini football matches and sports zone tours, emphasizing the importance of sports for all ages. Activities included balloon races, self-defense demonstrations, and endurance sessions, drawing strong public interest, particularly from youth and children.

The initiative underscores the broader national effort to integrate sports into daily life, with citizens and residents engaging in activities across public parks and sports facilities. This commitment reflects Qatar's vision of enhancing public health and quality of life through active living.

Abdulrahman bin Muslim Al Dosari praised the widespread participation, highlighting the Ministry of Sports and Youth's efforts to geographically diversify events across the country. The program also included women-only activities at over 18 locations, promoting community involvement and the adoption of sports as a sustainable lifestyle choice.

The Public Prosecution, led by HE Attorney General Dr. Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi, actively participated in the celebrations, reinforcing the institution's commitment to physical activity and its positive impact on work environments. They organized fitness exercises and team sports, fostering cooperation and team spirit among employees.

The National Archives of Qatar joined the activities at Wisdom Square in Katara Cultural Village, emphasizing community inclusion and supporting persons with disabilities. Their participation included a special corner documenting the journey of sports champion Hassan Al Shahi, showcasing inspiring success stories.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) hosted events at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, with HE Minister Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie emphasizing the role of sports in enhancing staff performance and work environments.

Concurrently, the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) participated under the theme "I Chose Sport", promoting sports as a human right and a component of public health and quality of life. Chairperson Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah highlighted Qatar's commitment to fostering a culture of sports beyond seasonal initiatives.

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and the State Audit Bureau also engaged in various sports activities, reinforcing their support for sustainable development and promoting healthy lifestyles among their employees. Qatar Central Bank, along with Qatar International Islamic Bank, participated in National Sports Day activities, engaging employees in various competitions.

The Ministry of Transport organized events at Aspire Park, with participation from Qatar Civil Aviation Authority and other transport sector entities, emphasizing sports' role in building healthy societies. Similarly, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education engaged in sports activities at Old Doha Port to promote active lifestyles among students and the community.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) collaborated with the Communications Regulatory Authority and Qatar Post for an event at Katara Hills, integrating digital tools to enhance sports participation. The National Cyber Security Agency also celebrated the day at Aspire Park, promoting teamwork and community spirit.

The Ministry of Municipality, led by HE Minister Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, participated in activities at Rawdat Al Hamama Park, supporting inclusive sports and empowering all societal segments. Pre-University Education at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development organized activities at Oxygen Park, emphasizing sports as an educational experience.

The Shukran Cup, organized by Qatar Foundation's Workers Welfare Department, brought together staff for sports competitions, highlighting teamwork and sportsmanship. The Community College of Qatar, in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality, engaged in activities at Rawdat Al Hamama Park, promoting sports as a daily practice.

Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC) participated in Qatar Foundation's activities, linking physical activity to career readiness and inclusive participation. The Ministry of Social Development and Family, alongside the Qatar Social Work Foundation, organized events at Al Bidda Park, promoting sports for diverse social groups.

The day concluded with the reaffirmation of Qatar's commitment to sports as a driver of public health, social cohesion, and quality of life, aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030. The widespread participation across various institutions and communities underscored the national dedication to fostering an active, healthy, and inclusive society.
