State of Qatar Reaffirms Commitment to UN Charter at General Assembly Meeting

New york: The State of Qatar renewed its firm commitment to the spirit and letter of the United Nations Charter, affirming its dedication to the UN continuing its role as a forum for dialogue and unity in the contemporary world.

According to Qatar News Agency, this declaration was made in a statement delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, during the UN General Assembly meeting commemorating the 80th anniversary of the signing of the United Nations Charter, held in New York.

Her Excellency noted that the 80th anniversary marks a pivotal moment for unifying efforts to maintain international peace and security, while promoting economic and social progress globally.

HE Permanent Representative emphasized the increasing importance and urgency of the UN’s role, as the world currently faces the highest number of conflicts since 1945. She pointed out that the State of Qatar has consistently championed international law, the principles of the Charter, the peaceful resolution of disputes, and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
