Sweden, Denmark, and Norway to Purchase Weapons for Ukraine from US Stockpiles

Stockholm: Sweden announced on Tuesday that it will purchase weapons for Ukraine from US stockpiles, in partnership with Denmark and Norway, as part of a new initiative led by Washington and NATO.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Swedish government stated that Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Oslo will jointly provide military aid worth a total of 500 million USD to Ukraine. The package will include air defense systems, anti-tank weapons, ammunition, and spare parts. This announcement comes just a day after the Netherlands revealed a 500 million EUR grant under the same initiative, known as the Priority Ukraine Requirements List (PURL).

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte welcomed the announcement from the three Nordic countries, stating that since the early days of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden have shown unwavering support for Ukraine, and praised their efforts in advancing the initiative.

Last month, US President Donald Trump unveiled a joint project with Rutte, calling on European allies and Canada to purchase American-made weapons – including advanced Patriot systems – to send to Ukraine.
