Doha: Governor of Syria’s Sweida, Mustafa Bakour, praised the humanitarian support extended by the State of Qatar to the governorate during the recent crisis, highlighting its impact on easing the plight of the displaced and refugees.
According to Qatar News Agency, the governor emphasized that Qatar’s contributions have been instrumental in addressing the basic needs of those affected and in restoring social stability. He expressed gratitude to Qatar for its supportive actions, noting their meaningful impact on the community’s morale.
Governor Bakour asserted that these initiatives foster a spirit of solidarity and provide residents with a sense of security amidst challenging circumstances. He further discussed a tripartite plan involving Syria, Jordan, and the United States aimed at stabilizing the province, noting its role in reducing tensions and fostering a conducive environment for dialogue.
He stated that the success of this plan hinges on the commitment of involved parties to its implementation. The governor underscored the current focus on establishing security as a precursor to reconstruction and development, and detailed efforts to engage residents and the displaced in a roadmap for progress, supported by international diplomacy from the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Bakour acknowledged the difficulty in gauging immediate success but expressed hope that forthcoming progress would reflect the parties’ dedication to the roadmap. He also addressed ongoing efforts to enhance basic services like electricity, water, and healthcare, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, to gradually improve living conditions.
Highlighting the hardships faced by Sweida’s community due to displacement, security, and economic issues, Bakour stressed the urgency of effective solutions. He emphasized the importance of Arab and international support, particularly from Qatar, in increasing the likelihood of successful outcomes for the governorate’s initiatives.
The governor voiced optimism about the plan’s potential for success, contingent upon sincere and cooperative efforts. He encouraged the people of Sweida to embark on a new chapter of collective rebuilding and overcoming adversity.
In his closing remarks to QNA, Bakour called for collective efforts to heal the community and facilitate the return of the displaced, underscoring the necessity of cooperation to restore normalcy and vitality to Sweida.
