The Council of Clans and Components of Basra delivered a memorandum of protest in the name of the people of the province to the Director of the office of the United Nations Mission in southern Iraq, to demand a review of the demarcation of the Iraqi-Kuwaiti border.
The Council’s media stated to the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / in light of the press conference held on the tenth of this month to demand a reconsideration of the Iraqi-Kuwaiti border demarcation, a delegation from the Council of Clans and Components of Basra handed the Director of the office of the United Nations Mission in southern Iraq, Namik Haidarov, a note of protest In the name of the people of Basra Governorate, with their various sects and segments, a claim addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, in which we ask him to reconsider UN Security Council Resolution No. 833 issued on 5/27/1993 regarding the demarcation of the borders between Iraq and Kuwait.
He pointed out that the tribal elders and notables in Basra called during a press conference to reconsider UN Security Council Resolution No. 833 issued in 1993 and issue a new resolution to demarcate the Iraqi-Kuwaiti borders, according to previous maps, and cancel the unfair decisions against Iraq.
Sheikh Abbas Al-Fadli said in a statement he read during a conference held yesterday evening at the Manawi Pasha Hotel in central Basra: "The demarcation of borders cannot be carried out through the logic of strength and weakness and what the war imposed and unjust decisions on Iraq."
