The Emir of Qatar Inaugurates The Sixth Summit Of The Gas Exporting Countries Forum

Baghdad The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, inaugurated this morning, Tuesday, the sixth summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, which will be held under the slogan “Natural Gas: Charting the Future of Energy”.

Al-Jazeera reported that Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, Mozambican President Philip Nyusi, Equatorial Guinean President Teodoro Mbasogo, and Libyan Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Dabaiba participated in the opening of the summit, in addition to a number of Arab and foreign heads of government and delegations, as well as senior officials and experts in the field of energy.

In his speech, Sheikh Tamim called on the Gas Exporting Countries Forum to play a role in supporting economies and preserving the environment, reiterating the call for more dialogue between producing and exporting member states to ensure the security of global gas supplies.

The forum seeks to build a mechanism for a more meaningful dialogue between gas producers and consumers for the stability and security of supply and demand in the global natural gas markets.

The forum includes 11 countries: Russia, Iran, Qatar, Algeria, Egypt, Bolivia, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela. It also includes 7 member states as observers: Angola, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Malaysia, Norway, Peru and the United Arab Emirates.

The full share of the member states amounts to more than 70% of the world’s natural gas reserves.
