Marwa Al-Khailani, the national team’s hammer thrower, won the gold medal at the West Asian Championship, which was held in Qatar.
Marwa, a resident of Muqdadiya district in Diyala Governorate, began her athletic career at the age of eleven with discus throwing. In 2015, she chose to specialize in hammer throwing in the arena and field games when she was a student at the Faculty of Physical Education.
Marwa achieved an Iraqi and Arab record and won the title of Arab Champion in 2017 in the tournament that was held in Tunisia.
