The Iranian Foreign Minister arrives in Riyadh for the first visit since the resumption of relations with the kingdom

Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian arrived today in Riyadh, on his first visit since the resumption of relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The official Iranian News Agency “IRNA” said that Abdullahian arrived at Riyadh airport for a one-day visit, and was received by the Saudi Foreign Ministry Undersecretary.

Iranian television said the visit would last for one day and would focus on bilateral relations and regional and international issues.

Iran had reopened its Embassy in Riyadh last June, and appointed Ali Reza Enayati – its former Ambassador to Kuwait – as the new Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

The Iranian Foreign Minister stated – earlier this week – that Enayati would accompany him on his trip to Saudi Arabia to officially begin his duties.

Iranian media reported that the Saudi Embassy resumed its work in Tehran last week, but Riyadh did not confirm this or name an Ambassador to Tehran.
