The Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, Futoshi Matsumoto, and his accompanying delegation visited the Nineveh Antiquities and Heritage Inspectorate.
Ruwayd Muwaffaq, Director of the Antiquities Inspectorate, told the National Iraqi News Agency/NINA: ‘The Japanese ambassador visited our Nineveh antiquities Inspectorate, and conducted a tour of a number of archaeological sites, in addition to visiting the hill of Prophet Yunus, to see the excavation work there and the most important results that have been achieved.’
For his part, the Japanese ambassador stressed that his government aspires to have more support for archaeological and heritage sites, through more Japanese institutions, universities and organizations.
