Baghdad -The Director General of the Department of Non-Governmental Organizations, in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers – member of the Supreme National Authority for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, Ashraf Al-Dahan, announced the destruction of a large quantity of drugs seized by the security services, as part of the efforts to fight the drug trade in Iraq.
According to a statement by the Cabinet Secretariat, Al-Dahan confirmed that the committee formed in accordance with Article 42 of Law No. 50 of 2017 destroyed large quantities of seized and stored drugs.
He added that this destruction falls within the government’s effort to combat drugs and protect citizens from this dangerous scourge. The destruction report stated that the destroyed quantities of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and chemical amounted to fourteen tons.”
According to the statement, the destruction process took place in accordance with scientific and technical standards and under the supervision of specialists from the relevant authorities.”
