The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, chaired a meeting that included the Commander of Baghdad Operations, the Commander of the Federal Police, its division commanders, the Commander of the Rapid Response Division, and a number of leaders and commanders in the Ministry.

A statement from the ministry stated, “Al-Shammari chaired a security meeting at the ministry’s headquarters, which included the commander of Baghdad operations, the commander of the federal police, its division commanders, the commander of the rapid response squad, and a number of commanders and officers in the ministry. The meeting discussed the redeployment of security forces occupying the ground in the capital, Baghdad, while reducing numbers will gradually increase to create a good reserve force that supports the work of the security forces in other areas.”

The Minister stressed the importance of “relying on sudden checkpoints as it is more effective from a security standpoint, benefiting from rescue checkpoints within the sector of responsibility, and activating the intelligence effort by collecting accurate information.”
