The Minister Of Interior Holds A Meeting With His Pakistani Counterpart To Discuss A Number Of Important Issues And Files

The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, held today, Wednesday, a meeting at the headquarters of the Federal Police, with his Pakistani counterpart, Rana Sanaullah, to discuss a number of important issues and files.

The ministry stated in a statement: “The minister at the beginning of the meeting conveyed the greetings and peace of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, stressing that this meeting confirms the desire to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries and develop bilateral relations, as well as exchange information and experiences in combating drugs and organized crime, in addition to fighting ISIS terrorist gangs, stressing the need to combat extremism and prevent its spread.

Al-Shammari also indicated that drug dealers have become the major scourge, calling for continuing to unite the regional effort in combating drugs and psychotropic substances, noting that the capital, Baghdad, witnessed the establishment of a regional conference to combat drugs.

While the minister also stressed the need to work to combat organized crime and deter terrorist elements, adding that there is continuous communication in preparing training plans and raising readiness to face all challenges, expressing his hope that there will be fruitful and effective cooperation with the competent security authorities in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

For his part, the Pakistani Interior Minister expressed his thanks and appreciation for the great welcome and hospitality, stressing that the Iraqis have great love for their country and were able to get rid of terrorist gangs, and that Iraq had a major role in stabilizing the region, indicating that there are serious steps for joint cooperation between the two countries, especially in anti-drug.

The Pakistani minister expressed his country’s readiness to contribute to the reconstruction of Iraq, which is witnessing a wide campaign in this field.

A joint committee was formed to combat terrorism, as well as organizing the entry of visitors during the Arbaeen visit, provided that the work of this committee will be developed later in order to be comprehensive in issues and files that enhance security in both countries.
