The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari issued directives for the plans of the Arbaeen visit.
A statement of the ministry stated: “Al-Shammari chaired a meeting to listen to the semi-monthly briefing on all joints and formations to evaluate the security work and explain the implementation of the plans drawn for the Arbaeen visit of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in the presence of the undersecretaries of the ministry for police, intelligence and federal security affairs and a number of advisors, commanders and directors, in addition to the provincial police chiefs via the television circuit.
Regarding the success and securing of the Arbaeen visit, the minister directed that the forces assigned to perform this duty be prepared with all their human and intelligence resources, especially at night times, given that the visitors travel at this time due to the high temperatures during the day, stressing at the same time the strengthening of the communications system of all kinds.
The minister reaffirmed the presence of the commanders in the field to directly supervise the implementation of the plans in an accurate manner, and to provide logistical support to the security forces present during this visit.
On the other hand, the minister emphasized the intensification of the engineering effort and the survey of the routes taken by the visitors by the specialists in the Anti-Explosives Directorate, and the strengthening of the efforts of the K9 units in the checkpoints with the increase in the number of rescue patrols during the days of the Arbaeen visit.
In the field of media, the minister directed the need to intensify media work and combat rumors and fabricated news.
The minister also ordered the provision of sufficient numbers of female inspectors in the governorates that include border crossings, as well as the holy governorates of Karbala and Najaf, indicating that the highways will be monitored by joint patrols to monitor the movement of vehicles and traffic accidents, God forbid.
