The number of martyred journalists in the Gaza Strip has risen to 151 since the beginning of the war

Baghdad, The government media office in Gaza announced today, Monday, that the number of martyred journalists inside the Strip has risen to 151 since October 7, after the martyrdom of a journalist, in an Israeli attack.

The media office stated in a statement via the Telegram platform: “The number of martyred journalists has risen to 151 journalists since the beginning of the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, after the martyrdom of colleague journalist Mahmoud Qassem, who works for the Palestine newspaper and its website Palestine Online. The office did not specify the location or details of the martyrdom of journalist Qassem.

The government office and human rights organizations have previously warned, more than once, that the Israeli occupation army, since the beginning of the war on Gaza, has deliberately targeted Palestinian journalists to prevent the transmission of the “crimes” it commits in Gaza.

Since the beginning of the Israeli war on October 7, journalists in the Gaza Strip have faced continuous I
sraeli attacks that directly target them and extend to their homes, families, and the headquarters of their media institutions. Data and statistics show, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists, that this war has become “the bloodiest for journalists since the committee began its work in 1992.”

The International Center for Journalists announced last February that the war on Gaza witnessed the highest levels of violence against journalists in 30 years, and called on the occupation to stop killing journalists and investigate the incidents of their killing by its forces.

Since Last October 7, Israel launched a war on Gaza, leaving more than 122,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and about 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly. Israel continues its war despite a UN Security Council resolution to stop it immediately, and orders from the International Court of Justice to end the invasion of the city of Rafah
in the southern Gaza Strip, and to take measures to prevent acts of “genocide”, and to improve the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
