The President of the Republic discusses, in an expanded meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and a number of officials, the general situation in the country

The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, held a meeting that included the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Hussein, and the head of the Kurdistan Region Representative, Fares Issa, in addition to a number of Kurdish Ministers Undersecretaries, Advisors, and Directors-General.

A presidential statement stated: “The meeting dealt with the overall general situation in the country and its developments, as the President stressed the need for good performance in a way that serves government institutions, as well as strengthening relations between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government.”

He also called for addressing issues between the center and the region within the constitution and the law, paying the salaries of regional government employees, and continuing work to consolidate security and stability in the country because of its impact on improving the service and living conditions of citizens through the rehabilitation of infrastructure and support for investment and the private sector.

The President of the Republic stressed the importance of relations with neighboring countries and the world and harnessing them to achieve development, development and prosperity in the country.

He also discussed on the water crisis, explaining that the water file occupies great importance, and there is serious work to form the Supreme Water Council for the purpose of finding the necessary solutions through coordination and cooperation with neighboring countries to ensure a fair and sufficient share of the water needs of Iraqis, stressing the need to follow the drip method and modern methods in Irrigation and treatment of waste in water, especially excesses in unlicensed fish ponds.

President Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid stressed the importance of working continuously for the approval of draft laws sent to the House of Representatives, especially the bill to transform the city of Halabja into a governorate, the Federal Council bill, the oil and gas law, and the abolition of the decisions of the dissolved Revolutionary Command Council.

For his part, Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein reviewed the most important outstanding issues between the federal government and the Kurdistan region, expressing his hope that radical solutions to these issues will be found.

The attendees also stressed the need to continue constructive and effective dialogue to resolve outstanding issues between the federal government and the Kurdistan region in accordance with the constitution and the law, in a way that guarantees the rights of all citizens and achieves their aspirations.

The attendees expressed their thanks to the President of the Republic and his valuable remarks and his keenness to strengthen national unity among the Iraqi people.
