Ramallah – Together – In its third weekly session, the Council of Ministers discussed a number of important files, most notably: relief efforts for our people in the Gaza Strip, settler attacks, financial conditions, the health sector situation, the efforts of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority, and the digitization of government services.
The Council of Ministers saluted the Palestinian prisoners on the anniversary of Palestinian Prisoner’s Day, which falls tomorrow, April 17, calling on the relevant international institutions to fulfill their responsibilities to stop violations against Palestinian prisoners in occupation prisons.
Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa briefed the members of the Council on the results of his foreign tour to a number of Arab countries, which included: Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Algeria, in order to coordinate positions and strengthen efforts to stop the aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Jerusalem, and to support relief efforts in t
he Gaza Strip, and to support endeavors. In order for the State of Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations.
In light of the continuing financial crisis, Mustafa directed various ministries and government institutions to further rationalize expenditures and redirect available funds to meet the emergency needs and priorities of our people.
The Cabinet also discussed the issue of digitizing government services, and its role in promoting good governance, transparency, rationalizing expenditures, and facilitating procedures for obtaining government services.
At the level of the southern governorates, Mustafa directed the relevant ministries for more joint coordination, especially with the Ministry of Relief, in providing services to citizens, communicating with relief organizations, surveying the damage, and identifying the emergency needs of our people in the Gaza Strip.
The Council also heard a presentation from the Chairman of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Muayyad Shaaban,
and interventions from the Ministers of Agriculture, Works, Local Government and Social Development, regarding the attacks of settlers and occupation forces on our people, which resulted in the death of 16 martyrs at the hands of settlers since last October, in addition to the escalation of the pace of their attacks in Al-Mughayir, Douma, Burin, Masafer Yatta, and other areas, and the accompanying destruction and burning of property.
The Council affirmed the unification of institutional efforts among various parties, the activation of technical committees in the governorates, the provision of whatever support possible in order to strengthen the steadfastness of citizens on their land, the activation of popular guard committees in all targeted areas, and thwarting the plans of the occupation and its settlers to confiscate more Palestinian lands.
While the Minister of Health, Majed Abu Ramadan, gave a presentation on the situation of the health sector in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the estimates of internat
ional institutions for the costs of rehabilitating the health facilities destroyed by the occupation in the Strip, and the features of the ministry’s directions to develop the health sector and overcome the current conditions. The Prime Minister instructed the Minister of Health to develop a comprehensive vision for the development and advancement of the health sector, especially the health insurance system, and to move towards the localization of all medical services provided in the health sector, leading to stopping medical transfers abroad.
The Council of Ministers also took many administrative and financial decisions included on the agenda submitted by the competent authorities.
