The Turkish Army Launches Raids On PKK Positions In Northern Iraq

Istanbul - The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that its air force launched raids on targets of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in several locations in northern Iraq.

The Turkish Defense Ministry said in a statement that Turkish aircraft launched raids late last night against selected targets in the areas of Matina, Gara, Awashin, Hakurk, and Qandil in northern Iraq.

It added that the raids resulted in the destruction of 19 targets, including caves, hideouts, and warehouses, which were believed to contain leading officials in the organization.

It explained that its forces neutralized many of the militants in those raids, stressing that they would continue their operations against the PKK with resolve and determination until the militants were eliminated.

It stressed that the Turkish Armed Forces took all necessary measures in order not to harm innocent civilians, friendly forces, and historical and cultural sites in the region / according to what was stated in the statement .
