The Spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Stephane Dujarric, announced that the international organization has not yet received any complaint from the Iraqi government regarding the Sulaymaniyah airport attack, calling on all countries to respect Iraq’s sovereignty.

“We affirm our full support for the territorial integrity of Iraq,” Stephane Dujarric told the Kurdish Rudaw media network today, “and we call on all countries to respect the sovereignty of Iraqi lands.”

For his part, a source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to Rudaw Media Network, that Iraq has not yet submitted a complaint to the United Nations, and no decision has been taken in Baghdad to file a complaint against Turkey in the international organization, at a time when the Iraqi presidency carried in a statement on (April 8- 2023), Turkey takes responsibility for the attack, calling on the Turkish government to “take responsibility and make an official apology for these actions.”

Plumes of smoke rose near Sulaymaniyah International Airport on Friday (April 8, 2023), and officials at the airport and the Asayish initially denied that it was caused by shelling or an explosion, and it was later reported that it was caused by a drone attack in which the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, was targeted, according to Rudaw media network information./ End
