Turkey decides to freeze the assets of 3 people for funding the terrorist organization ISIS

The Turkish Ministry of Treasury and Finance decided today, Friday, to freeze the assets of 3 people for their involvement in financing the terrorist organization ISIS.

The Turkish Ministry of Treasury stated in a statement that the ‘decision to freeze assets’ prepared by the ministry entered into force after its publication in the Official Gazette.

According to the decision, the assets of Muhammad Yusuf Alisheroglu Mirzoev, Adam Khamirzaev, and Rakhmonberdi Akhmatov were frozen based on the existence of reasonable grounds for committing acts that fall within the scope of the crime of ‘financing terrorism.’

The Turkish Treasury Ministry stated in its statement that combating “terrorist financing” constitutes one of the most important dimensions of the fight against terrorism, stressing that Turkey will continue its activities in drying up the financial resources of terrorist organizations one after another.

It added, “The decision to freeze assets was taken within the framework of the Terrorist Financing
Prevention Law No. 6415, which is of great importance in preventing terrorist organizations from accessing financial resources.”

The statement quoted the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Simsek, and the Minister of the Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, as saying that the decision ‘includes the assets of 3 individuals who carry out financing and logistical activities linked to the terrorist organization ISIS.
