Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stressed the importance of securing an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and delivering humanitarian aid to the Palestinians as soon as possible.

According to Qatar News Agency, Israel should cease its attacks immediately if it wants peace. Its attacks on Palestinians in the Gaza enclave are not legitimate self-defense, but rather methodical genocide and terror, Erdogan said in a press statement on Wednesday.

He underlined that Turkiye would steadfastly seek to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on a two-state solution, stressing that Gaza must be a territory for the Palestinian people and ultimately governed by them.

The objective is to ensure enduring peace in the region without further killing of innocents, devastation, blood-soaked practices, and tears. The region must be extricated from this crisis through backing peace efforts being energized by US President Donald Trump, Erdogan pointed out.

He noted that a ceasefire and a just peace are the most rational options for Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

Erdogan further elaborated that intensive efforts are being made at all stages, in terms of humanitarian aid, diplomatic contacts, ceasing trade with Israel, and recognizing a Palestinian state.
