The Turkish security authorities announced the arrest of five Iraqis in the state of Balikesir, west of the country, on charges of belonging to the terrorist organization ISIS.

The Turkish security authorities stated in a media report today, Friday, that the Public Prosecution in Balikesir issued an arrest warrant against six Iraqis on suspicion of their connection to ISIS, and that the anti-terrorism teams in the Balikesir Security Directorate carried out simultaneous raids on several addresses to arrest the suspects.

The Turkish security authorities indicated that the operation resulted in the arrest of 5 of them, and digital materials related to their activities within the terrorist organization were seized in their possession.

It explained that one of the detainees was previously responsible for the so-called ISIS police forces (al-Hisba) in some areas of Iraq, and that the other detainee received training on how to use explosives in one of the areas of Iraq.
