Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has announced the successful interception of a new wave of missiles and drones launched from Iran, amidst rising regional tensions. A defense ministry spokesperson revealed that air defense systems engaged eight ballistic missiles, four cruise missiles, and 36 drones in the latest attacks.
According to Qatar News Agency, the UAE's defense ministry reported that since the onset of the Iranian attacks, its defenses have intercepted 433 ballistic missiles, 19 cruise missiles, and 1,977 drones in total. The statement disclosed that the attacks have resulted in casualties, including the deaths of two members of the armed forces and a civilian contractor of Arab nationality. Additionally, eight civilians of various nationalities have been reported killed, and 188 individuals have sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe.
The defense ministry emphasized that the armed forces remain on high alert, prepared to counter further threats. It reiterated the UAE's commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty and ensuring security in the region.
