Madrid: UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the Palestinian Territories Francesca Albanese said that all the investigations she conducted over the past year conclusively confirm that Israel is committing genocide in the Gaza Strip. This statement was made during her speech at a session held in the Spanish Parliament. The session, titled “The role of the military embargo in peacebuilding processes,” was organized as part of a campaign by the Rescop organization aimed at halting arms sales to Israel to prevent genocide against the Palestinian people.
According to Qatar News Agency, the UN Special Rapporteur emphasized that her year-long documentation efforts reveal undeniable evidence of genocide in Gaza, marked by intense destruction operations. Her investigations, carried out in collaboration with 30 experts from the United Nations, align with a decision by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued last July, which also affirms the occurrence of genocide in the occupied Palestinian territories.
A
lbanese highlighted the mandatory nature of ICJ decisions for all member states, implying a global responsibility to act. She asserted that an arms embargo would be insufficient, urging for more comprehensive measures, including the severance of all military, academic, and diplomatic relations with Israel.
