Doha: The referendum committees closed their doors at 7:00 pm, concluding the voting process on the draft constitutional amendments, which saw significant participation from citizens aged 18 and above.
According to Qatar News Agency, the headquarters of the referendum committees witnessed a substantial turnout from various segments of Qatari society. This participation was in response to the call of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, urging all citizens to take part in the general referendum on the draft constitutional amendments.
The voting process was conducted from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, with procedures for sorting and counting the votes commencing immediately thereafter. The results are expected to be announced by the General Referendum Committee within 24 hours following the conclusion of the voting process.
Eligible citizens were present since the early morning hours, contributing to an enthusiastic atmosphere that underscored their dedication to the success of this event. This reflects a shar
ed sense of responsibility towards the nation and aims to strengthen its social fabric, marking an important stage in the country’s journey of unity and progress.
The General Referendum Committee facilitated the voting process by providing 10 paper referendum committees and 18 electronic committees. Citizens could participate by attending one of the announced referendum headquarters with their Qatari ID card or Qatar Digital ID, or by voting remotely using the “Metrash 2” application, available both inside and outside the country. The voting was conducted by choosing between “yes” or “no”.
