Doha: Under the auspices of HE Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, security agencies in the country are organizing the “Watan Exercise 2024” from November 10 to 13, with participation from over 70 military, security, and civilian agencies, along with security forces from the friendly Italian Republic.
According to Qatar News Agency, Chairman of the Standing Committee for Joint Exercises and General Supervisor of the Watan 2024 Exercise, Brigadier Mubarak Sherida Al Kaabi, stated that the exercise aims to strengthen coordination between military, security, and civilian sectors. It seeks to employ logistical and technical capabilities to achieve operational integration and effectiveness in handling potential risks, ensuring public safety during major events, and confronting crises and disasters.
The exercise includes over 55 scenarios prepared by experts based on strategic plans and risk assessment. The scenarios cover va
rious risks and challenges, reflecting the commitment of participating agencies to achieve the exercise’s objectives. Commander of the Command, Control, Preparation, and Scenarios Management Cell, Major Mohammed Ahmed Jaber Abdullah, detailed the timeline, which is divided into six stages, including readiness and execution phases, involving office and field exercises.
The exercise venues encompass land, sea, and air ports, military facilities, and other significant sites. Director of Public Relations and Communication at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Eng. Mohammed Ahmed Al Dhahi, emphasized the exercise as a joint effort involving government and private sectors, aiming to enhance cooperation and coordination in dealing with security crises and emergencies. The participation of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change is seen as an opportunity to test and develop emergency operational plans and response procedures.
