Doha: Western countries including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and several European nations, alongside various partner organizations and agencies, have called on Israel to lift restrictions on the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip. According to Qatar News Agency, the Foreign Ministers of these nations issued a joint statement on Tuesday, highlighting the severe food shortages in Gaza. They noted, “Famine is unfolding before our eyes. Urgent action is needed now to halt and reverse starvation.” The ministers urged the Israeli government to permit all international aid shipments intended for non-governmental organizations operating in Gaza to enter the area without hindrance.
The statement, which underscores the urgency of the situation, was signed by 27 countries, including the UK, Australia, Canada, France, Japan, and the European Union, along with several of their partners. It calls for Israel to avoid obstructing the efforts of key humanitarian actors working to mitigate the crisis in the Gaza Strip.
