Doha: The Zakat Affairs Department at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has unveiled its operational plan for Ramadan, emphasizing its commitment to fostering trust among Zakat performers. The plan, launched under the motto "because your Zakat is a trust," aims to streamline this Islamic pillar and ensure transparent distribution of funds to those in need.
According to Qatar News Agency, Ahmed Jaber Al Jarbouei, Head of the Zakat Services Section, highlighted the department's focus on Ramadan as a crucial period for giving, aligned with the increase in Zakat performers and Zakat Al-Fitr. The department is committed to organizing operations under Islamic Sharia provisions with high governance standards to build social confidence and ensure timely fund distribution.
Al Jarbouei emphasized the department's efforts to enhance operations annually during Ramadan, promoting social solidarity and trust. The department has expanded its network of collection offices in key areas such as commercial markets, shopping centers, and mosques. Additional collection points have been set up in malls and markets after Taraweeh prayers to facilitate donor access.
The department will begin accepting Zakat Al-Fitr from the first day of Ramadan, with the amount to be announced at the start of the month. This ensures that contributions reach recipients before the Eid Al-Fitr prayer, upholding the campaign's trust and responsibility.
Al Jarbouei outlined the department's digital initiatives, offering multiple channels for Zakat payment, including a smartphone application, the official website, and direct bank transfers. The Rapid Zakat Collection Service allows authorized collectors to meet donors at their locations, ensuring convenience and accessibility.
The department also provides Sharia counseling for Zakat calculation for individuals and companies. Sharia specialists are available during Ramadan to address inquiries, ensuring accurate and authentic Zakat calculations.
Al Jarbouei reiterated the department's commitment to transparency and governance, aligning with the campaign motto that prioritizes trust.
