Zelensky Calls for Second Summit on Peace in Ukraine


Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Sunday that participants in the two-day Ukraine peace summit in Switzerland agreed to continue working in special groups, calling for holding a second summit for peace in Ukraine.

In a press conference at the conclusion of the summit, Zelensky said that participants agreed to start working in special groups after the summit to discuss specific ideas, proposals and developments that could restore security at various levels.

When action plans for peace become ready, and when each step is completed, the way will be open for a second peace summit, he added.

The Ukrainian president believed that Russia is not ready for a just peace at the present time, noting: “Russia can start negotiating peace tomorrow if it withdraws from our lands.” The final communique of the first Ukraine peace summit, which concluded earlier Sunday, urged the involvement of all parties to the conflict with the aim of halting the war that has been ongoing since Feb. 24, 2022.

e than 90 countries met in Switzerland to participate in the summit dedicated to discussing Kiev’s proposals to end the war, but without the presence of Russia which announced its unwillingness to attend.
