An earthquake measuring 5.3 magnitude on the Richter scale hit on Sunday west of the city of Hofn, northern Iceland. The earthquake occurred 144 km from Reykjavik, capital of Iceland, at a depth of 10 km, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said. There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake. Last December, a 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck the Reykjanes Peninsula, southwest of Iceland.
