A 6.4 magnitude earthquake strikes northern Chile


An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale struck today the province of Coquimbo, located in northern Chile.



The National Seismological Center of the University of Chile stated that the epicenter of the earthquake occurred 11 kilometers from the city of Tungoy in the province, and at a depth of 46 kilometers.



So far, there have been no reports of material or human damage resulting from the earthquake.”



It is noteworthy that in 2010, an 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck central and southern Chile, followed by massive tsunami waves, killing 500 people./End
