Al-Araji to the Tunisian Ambassador: Iraq has achieved military victory over ISIS and we must fight extremist ideas

Baghdad – National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji confirmed that Iraq has achieved military victory over ISIS, and we must all fight extremist ideas.

The Chancellery stated in a statement: “Al-Araji met in his office today with the Tunisian Ambassador to Baghdad, Shukri Latif.”

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the fraternal relations between the two countries, and ways to strengthen them in a way that serves the interests of the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.

The two sides also discussed the latest political and security developments in the region, especially developments in the situation in the Palestinian territories.

Al-Araji also discussed with the Tunisian Ambassador the strengthening of joint cooperation in the field of combating terrorism and drying up its sources, and the importance of working to dismantle crises in the region.

Al-Araji stressed Iraq’s readiness to cooperate with Tunisia in the security and intelligence field and to sign memorandums of understanding and exchange information in this regard, indicating that terrorism has not ended yet as long as its idea exists, indicating that Iraq has achieved military victory over ISIS, and that we must all fight extremist ideas.

Regarding the file of the Syrian Al-Hol camp, Al-Araji stressed the need to expedite the end of this camp, because of the real danger it poses to the region and the world.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides stressed that the killing of civilians and children in Palestine is a violation of human rights, because they are not part of the battle, stressing their rejection of the policy of collective punishment practiced against the Palestinians in Gaza./End
