CEO of ATTU Highlights Doha 2025 World Championships as Exceptional Event, Showcasing Qatar’s Global Leadership

Doha: CEO of Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU) Nabil Al Fakih affirmed that the 59th ITTF World Table Tennis Championships – Doha 2025, will be an exceptional edition in the tournament’s history, expressing his full confidence in Qatar’s ability to organize the event according to international standards and principles.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Fakih said that the start of the current edition of the World Championships was strong, as expected, 21 years after the first championship hosted by the State of Qatar in 2004. He added that it will be an exceptional edition, especially as it comes after a series of changes to the ITTF rules regarding players, and with the participation of a large group of champions who qualified after qualifiers that witnessed intense competition, and produced the best players in the world.

The CEO of the ATTU indicated that Qatar had succeeded in meeting the challenge at the organizational level, which was in accordance with international standards. He emphasized that this w
as not unusual for Doha, which has hosted numerous major international events in recent years. He pointed out that the outstanding professionalism demonstrated by Qatar in organizing the tournament will pose a significant challenge to the countries hosting future editions. He also praised the opening ceremony, which he described as dazzling, as it honorably reflected Qatar’s stature and its leadership in hosting major sporting events on the global level.

In turn, Chairman of the Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation Vivek Kohli emphasized that professional organization is not uncommon in Qatar, noting that he had witnessed Qatar’s excellence in organizing major tournaments over the past decades, and that the tremendous success of the opening ceremony of the current World Championship was expected. Kohli said that he attended the first international championship held in Qatar more than three decades ago, specifically in 1994, and witnessed the Qatari determination to succeed. He also attended the distinguished
edition of the World Championship, which Qatar also hosted in 2004, and witnessed the great distinction that the State of Qatar presented to the international table tennis family in that edition.
