Egypt’s Foreign Minister Engages in Talks for Gaza Ceasefire and Aid Efforts

Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held phone calls on Thursday with several of his Arab counterparts to discuss the latest developments in Gaza Strip and joint efforts to resume a ceasefire, secure the release of hostages and detainees, stop the bloodshed, and ensure the urgent flow of humanitarian aid into the besieged territory.

According to Qatar News Agency, during the calls, Abdelatty outlined preparations for Cairo’s upcoming hosting of a conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, to be held in coordination with the Palestinian government and the United Nations, once a ceasefire agreement is reached. The discussions also touched on bilateral relations and ways to strengthen joint Arab action amid this critical juncture facing the region.

The calls included conversations with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al Yahya, among others.
