Gulf CDC Releases Inaugural Gulf Cancer Registry Report Covering 2013-2020

Doha: The Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control (Gulf CDC) has announced the release of its first Gulf Cancer Registry report, covering the years 2013 to 2020. This marks a significant milestone as the Center's initial coordinated regional publication aimed at strengthening joint efforts in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for epidemiological surveillance and health data system advancement.

According to Qatar News Agency, the release of this report underscores the Gulf CDC's dedication to enhancing regional initiatives for raising cancer awareness and bolstering cancer prevention and control efforts. These efforts are aligned with GCC health priorities and are designed to enhance the preparedness of health systems in tackling the challenges posed by noncommunicable diseases.

The publication is seen as a critical step towards improving the outputs of the Gulf Cancer Registry. It aims to aid in evidence-based health planning, thereby fostering greater integration within the GCC and guiding preventive programs tailored to the region's specific needs.

Furthermore, the report highlights ongoing collaboration with partners in Member States to develop specialized health registries. This collaboration supports the creation of an integrated Gulf health information system, which is intended to advance public health objectives and improve the quality of life throughout GCC countries.
