Lille Beats Paris FC to Boost Champions League Hopes

Lille: Lille OSC moved closer to securing a place in next season's UEFA Champions League with a 1-0 win away to Paris FC on Sunday in the 31st round of Ligue 1. The Belgian midfielder Matias Fernandez-Pardo scored the only goal in the 27th minute from the penalty spot.

According to Qatar News Agency, the victory lifted Lille to 57 points, level in third place with Olympique Lyonnais, which defeated AJ Auxerre 3-2 on Saturday. Stade Rennais FC, meanwhile, strengthened its push for European competition with a late 1-0 win over FC Nantes, courtesy of a stoppage-time goal by Valentin Rongier.

Rennes remains fifth with 56 points, one point behind Lille, while Nantes sits 17th, five points behind Auxerre in 16th place. Elsewhere, RC Strasbourg Alsace defeated FC Lorient 3-2, while Le Havre AC and FC Metz played out a 4-4 draw. Olympique de Marseille and OGC Nice also shared the points in a 1-1 draw.

Paris Saint-Germain FC tops the standings with 69 points.
