Head of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences, Fadel Al-Rahim, discussed with the French Chargé d'Affairs in Baghdad, Jean-Christopher, prospects for cooperation between Iraq and France.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement, “The head of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences discussed during the meeting the prospects for joint cooperation between the Republic of Iraq and the French Republic at the level of multilateral relations,” indicating that “Iraq attaches great importance to developing economic and development cooperation with France, as it is one of the most important European partners.” Referring to "the latest developments in the ongoing preparations to hold the third edition of the Baghdad Conference for Economic Integration and Political Stability."

For his part, the French Chargé d'Affairs affirmed his country's continued desire to actively participate in the upcoming Baghdad Conference for Economic Cooperation, noting that France had recently launched a new initiative concerned with environmental preservation, expressing his hope that Iraq would join that initiative./End
