Amman: King Abdullah II of Jordan, during separate phone calls with Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides on Saturday, discussed ways to de-escalate the latest dangerous regional tensions.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the two calls, the Jordanian King said the current situation requires a collective effort to de-escalate the situation, reiterating that Jordan will not be a battleground for any conflict and will not allow its security, stability, and the safety of its citizens to be threatened.
For his part, the Turkish president said Israel’s attacks on Iran constitute a provocation that could seriously harm the region’s security, noting that the international community’s silence on the occupation and genocide in Palestine has enabled Israel’s aggression to escalate to this level.
