Minister of State at Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Discuss Regional Security

Doha: HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi engaged in a phone call with HE Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Caretaker Government of Afghanistan Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi to discuss regional security concerns.

According to Qatar News Agency, the conversation focused on the increasing military escalation in the region and its potential impacts on both regional and international security. The ministers emphasized the importance of resolving disputes through peaceful means. HE Dr. Al Khulaifi highlighted the recent Iranian attack on Qatari territory, describing it as a violation of national sovereignty and inconsistent with the principles of good-neighborliness. He reiterated Qatar's commitment to facilitating dialogue between Iran and the international community, while expressing concern over the renewed targeting of Qatari territory.

HE Dr. Al Khulaifi called for an immediate cessation of escalatory actions and a return to negotiations to preserve regional security. He also expressed Qatar's support for reducing tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan to enhance regional stability.

HE Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi conveyed Afghanistan's solidarity with Qatar, emphasizing the need for regional cooperation.
