Doha: The Qatari men’s volleyball team continues its daily training sessions in preparation for the inaugural edition of the West Asian Men’s Championship, set to take place in Bahrain from July 17 to 27. Qatar will compete in Group B alongside Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, while Group A includes host nation Bahrain, the UAE, Jordan, and Lebanon.
According to Qatar News Agency, the team is training at the Qatar Volleyball Association Hall under the supervision of Argentine coach Camilo Soto. The atmosphere is marked by seriousness and enthusiasm, with players showing strong commitment as they aim to deliver a performance worthy of the national team. Coach Soto emphasized that the championship is a key milestone in the team’s preparation program, praising the players’ performance in the recent Asian Nations Championship, also hosted by Bahrain, where Qatar claimed the bronze medal.
National team player Dhahi Mubarak stressed the importance of maintaining high focus throughout the tournament. He affirmed that the goal is to compete for the title and represent Qatar in the best possible way. Qatar will begin its campaign against Saudi Arabia on July 19, followed by a match against Oman on July 20, and will conclude the group stage with a clash against Kuwait on the evening of July 21.
This first edition of the championship is a new sporting initiative by the West Asia Volleyball Association. It is aimed at enhancing regional competition and advancing the sport both technically and organizationally through a regular tournament that brings together top national teams from the region.
