Saudi Arabia To Host Tomorrow An Int’l Meeting To Discuss The Ukrainian Crisis

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced today, Friday, that it will host tomorrow, Saturday, a meeting of national security advisers and representatives of a number of countries to discuss the Ukrainian crisis.

The Kingdom affirmed, according to what was reported by the Saudi Press Agency, SPA, that the meeting, which will be held in the city of Jeddah, is a continuation of the humanitarian initiatives and efforts made in this context by Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, and the contacts that he made. He conducted with the Russian and Ukrainian leaderships since the early days of the crisis, as he expressed Riyadh's readiness to make efforts to contribute to reaching a solution leading to lasting peace, and its support for all efforts and initiatives aimed at mitigating the effects of the crisis and its humanitarian repercussions.

It noted Riyadh's aspiration for this meeting to contribute to enhancing dialogue and cooperation through exchanging views, coordination and discussion at the international level on ways to resolve the Ukrainian crisis through diplomatic and political means, in a way that enhances international peace and security, and spares the world further humanitarian, security and economic repercussions of the crisis.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had expressed optimism that a "peace summit" would be reached regarding his country's crisis with Russia by next fall, considering the Jeddah meeting a "step in this way.
