Doha: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) today announced ASPETAR, a leading orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital, as its Official Medical Partner for all major AFC club competitions and several national team competitions until June 2029. Based in Doha, Qatar, ASPETAR is recognized as one of the top sports medicine institutions globally, offering elite care to professional athletes in diverse sporting disciplines, the AFC stated.
According to Qatar News Agency, this partnership enables ASPETAR to collaborate with the AFC in supporting the growth of football across Asia. ASPETAR has a history of collaboration with the AFC, having served as the medical service provider for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 and as the Premier Partner of the 8th AFC Medical Conference in 2025.
The AFC General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John highlighted the significance of the partnership, referring to it as a foundational pillar for the athletes' health and wellbeing across the continent. He emphasized ASPETAR's unwavering loyalty and commitment to Asian football, reflecting on their role in the success of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 and their accreditation as an AFC Medical Centre of Excellence.
ASPETAR Acting Director General Khalid Ali Al Mawlawi expressed pride in continuing the partnership, underscoring the shared commitment to advancing athlete health, promoting medical education, and enhancing research in football medicine. ASPETAR aims to support the development of football medicine across Asia, strengthening its global influence.
