Doha: The UN Security Council will hold an emergency session tomorrow, Saturday, to consider the Israeli occupation government’s decision to reoccupy the entire Gaza Strip and forcibly displace its population.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, announced the emergency session following his meeting with Eloy Alfaro de Alba, the Permanent Representative of Panama to the United Nations and President of the Security Council for August. Mansour’s consultations with Council members and the meeting of the Council of Arab Ambassadors, called for by the State of Palestine, have been pivotal in organizing this urgent session.
Mansour stated that the session will focus on addressing measures to prevent the occupation from executing its plan to fully control the Gaza Strip and to resist the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza, which contravenes international legitimacy resolutions.
Earlier on Friday, the Israeli security cabinet approved a plan to reoccupy the Gaza Strip, expand military control, and displace its population of approximately 2.4 million people. This decision has been met with widespread international condemnation and rejection.
