Al-raya: Al-Raya newspaper once again devoted significant attention to the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, in light of the occupation army announcement that it has begun preparatory and initial stages of an assault on Gaza City.

According to Qatar News Agency, in its editorial today, the paper warned of the dangerous plan the Israeli occupation’s government is seeking to implement, as part of an expansionist project aimed at erasing Palestinian existence in both Gaza and the West Bank.

The editorial stated that the upcoming Israeli operation in Gaza City will have catastrophic consequences, especially after the occupation army declared it will treat the besieged city as a dangerous combat zone and use every means of destruction to uproot Palestinian presence and leave nothing behind so residents cannot return.

It added that intensifying the Israeli military campaign in Gaza City will subject nearly one million people to new forced displacement and deepen the catastrophe for survivors already enduring famine, with the likelihood of thousands more Palestinians killed or injured and further collapse of humanitarian conditions.

The paper also noted that developments in the West Bank were no less dangerous than the genocidal war Israel is waging in Gaza. It accused Israel of launching a comprehensive war on Palestinian existence, history, and property by enabling armed settler groups to terrorize civilians, expel them from their land, kill them, and destroy their homes and farms.

The editorial strongly criticized the international community’s stance, accusing it of turning a blind eye to Israel’s atrocities and violations, and of blatant double standards in dealing with global conflicts. It said this silence and inaction effectively gave Israel a green light to continue its crimes with impunity.

Al Raya concluded its editorial by saying that since it has now become clear who is obstructing a comprehensive ceasefire agreement, pointing to Israel’s refusal to engage after Hamas accepted the latest proposal, it has become imperative to boycott this extremist, racist government, hold it accountable for its crimes, and accelerate international recognition of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
